We made it! CES is an annual trade show in consumer technology held in Las Vegas every year and we have a lot to celebrate! Not only will we be there, but we scooped a 2025 Honoree in Accessibility & AgeTech award! If you or anyone you know is going to be at CES, please come say hello. We’d love to see you. ❤️

We’re delighted to announce that we’re ready to roll out our first big software update since our company’s launch! Please give a warm round of applause to our developers and beta testers. Together, our teams worked tirelessly through 6 different beta builds after our public launch to make sure that 1.2.2 was fit for public consumption. Chock full of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes, you won’t want to miss out on this update. We’ll list everything we’ve packed into it at the end of this newsletter (because otherwise it will take a lot of scrolling to get to the rest of our updates). 🎉
In the next couple of days, make sure you visit your phone or tablet’s app store to get the newest app update. If you don’t have your Threshold app set to automatically update, you will need to manually update it in App Store or Google Play.
Speaking of software testing, as one of our customers, you’re qualified to join our team of software testers! If you haven’t joined us yet and you’re interested in doing so, you can join our beta platform on Centercode by following this link and hop into our Open Software Beta Project. This opportunity is run by Threshold Care employees and tests new updates regularly.
Be aware that we aren’t able to promise incentives because this is an open opportunity. This is primarily for people that feel joy in putting products through their paces and having a voice in product development and bug bashing. 🐞

In less pleasant news, we’d like to address the outage that we emailed about earlier this week. This issue caused data to temporarily not display within the Threshold app for people using the 1.1.1 app version, but no data was permanently lost. We received a support ticket about this after the resolution and wanted to make sure that everyone else had access to this information. Here’s the explanation of the root cause from our CTO:
“There wasn’t a data breach this week. What happened was that we made a change in the cloud a few weeks ago to ensure better stability and higher overall performance. This change broke the 1.1.X version of the mobile app. We had accounted for that and created a 1.2.X version to ensure that the app would continue working and made provisions in the cloud so 1.1.X would continue to work. Fast-forward to Monday, we made a change in the cloud that, despite testing, broke the 1.1.X version of the app. Upon notification of the issue, we adjusted the cloud to work with the 1.1.X version.”
Thank you to the people (including our own CEO, Jacob) who quickly notified us about the problem so we could take action. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
This incident also led us to realize that you may not have been informed yet that we have a Customer Care team and website up and running now. This is a relatively new development. If you ever need to get in touch with our folks, here’s how to do it:
Read support articles with troubleshooting tips and other reference materials at: https://thresholdcare.zendesk.com/
Email customer care inquiries to: support@zendesk.thresholdcare.com
We have a Facebook Group! Unlike many other tech groups, this is designed to be a group that also provides emotional support and resources to people who are caretakers or receiving care. It also is not a requirement that people be a Threshold Care customer. Our goal is to become a resource in this space and to give more to this community than we receive.
It's intentionally rolling slow to start as we're ramping up, but it's open and ready to rock. Please only join if you are providing care for someone, are receiving care, or are preparing to be in one of those roles. This is important to protect the privacy and intention of the group due to the sensitive nature of the content. 😊

You will need to unplug each Motion Wi-Fi Sensing Plug for 15 minutes to migrate them.
Archived public Release Notes will be maintained on https://thresholdcare.zendesk.com
Whew! That’s a big update! 🏋🏻
