Rethinking Aging Podcast

Our CEO, Jacob Loader, recently featured on the Rethinking Aging Podcast! In case you aren’t familiar with this wonderful crew, this podcast is focused on supporting the creation of products, education, advocacy, and services that improve the lives of folks 50 years of age and older. This includes both older adults as well as their caregivers. 🗣️

Here’s a description of the podcast that we featured in and a link where you can find it:

“Our CES 2025 highlights shows continued with this third episode featuring caregiver-friendly products for aging adults.

Ted Fischer from Ageless Innovation discussed their Joy for All brand, which includes robotic pets and games designed to combat loneliness and isolation. They introduced a new game for CES 2025 – Yahtzee Slots.

Lisa Lavin from Ōmcare introduced their Home Health Hub, a device that integrates medication dispensing with video calls to enhance caregiver efficiency and patient adherence.

Jacob Loader from Threshold Care presented the Motion Wi-Fi Sensing Plugs, which use Wi-Fi signal disruptions to monitor activity without intrusive cameras. These products aim to improve the quality of life for aging adults and support caregivers by providing non-invasive, privacy-centric solutions.

We talked about CES 2025 with Steve Ewell. Steve has a newly established position as VP, Consumer Technology Association Accessibility and Age Tech, demonstrating the importance that CTA is placing on this area. This is the Working Group link. Steve Ewell also continues as Executive Director Consumer Technology Association Foundation.”

1.2.3 Update

It’s time for another app update! 🎉

This one is smaller and focuses on experience improvements. Make sure you have your app store set to do automatic updates or manually check for an update in the next couple of days to get access to these changes:

Android and iOS Release Notes:

  • Changed the Motion History page into a chart with additional data

  • Added more log visibility after submission

  • Expanded the touch zone for exiting Landscape Mode on the Dashboard

  • Optimized Motion History retrieval

  • Fixed last reported motion refresh on the Dashboard

  • Fixed the Motion History page flicker when loading

Known Issues:

  • A Zone can be deleted with plugs still attached. The plugs stay in the app but cannot be attached to another Zone.

  • When the last device is deleted from a Motion Zone, the Motion Zone might be stuck in motion detected instead of resetting the motion to Unknown

  • The data freeze function is not working intermittently and may use the same day for the current day and the frozen day

Customer Satisfaction Survey

We put together a short survey to learn more about how you feel about Threshold Care and Motion Wi-Fi Sensing Plugs! If you have a few minutes, we’d greatly appreciate your feedback through this survey. As an added perk, you’ll have a sneak peek of some of what we’re planning to add in the future as well as the opportunity to weigh in on the priority of these upcoming features. ⬆️

Circle of Care

When we first launched, we had a goal of quickly adding in the ability to invite other people to your Residence to share access to the data and other features as needed. These invitations require both the ability to grant access and set roles for people. In our opinion, and the opinion of some folks who have contacted us or reviewed our product, this is a critical component for reducing the stress for people on their caretaking journey. Many families and other types of caregivers work in teams, so having a single account granted access to a Residence doesn’t fit the need that exists. We know this has taken us longer than expected and apologize for the delay.

We are happy to announce that, as of earlier this month, Circle of Care (the feature name for these combined features) was released to beta! This covers a lot of areas to test, so the testing will take place across multiple weeks. After we pass the beta bar, we’ll be ready to release Circle of Care to all Threshold Care customers. ✅

Software Testing

Are you excited about Circle of Care and want to get early access to the feature? If so, please consider joining our beta program in Centercode! This opportunity is run by Threshold Care employees and tests new updates regularly.

Please note that we aren’t able to promise incentives or free products because this is an open opportunity. This is primarily for people that feel joy in putting products through their paces and having a voice in product development and bug bashing. 🐞

Threshold Customer Care

As a reminder, we have a Customer Care website in case you need to get in touch with us. Here’s the information:

Read support articles with troubleshooting tips and other reference materials at: https://thresholdcare.zendesk.com/

Email customer care inquiries to: support@zendesk.thresholdcare.com

Facebook Group

Unlike many other tech groups, this is designed to be a group that also provides emotional support and resources to people who are caretakers or receiving care. It also is not a requirement that people be a Threshold Care customer. Our goal is to become a resource in this space and to give more to this community than we receive. If you tried to apply and were not accepted, this is probably because there were additional questions that you didn’t answer or because you indicated that you aren’t part of the included groups (people giving or receiving care or learning in preparation for these changes). We have the admission questions and limited scope to protect the privacy and information that people choose to share in the group due to the inherent vulnerability in these topics. 🔒

This group intentionally doesn’t have very frequent posting from our side yet as we ramp up, but it is available for you and you can already post in there if you’re wanting to share useful resources or tips or if you’re seeking advice, support, a vent space, or anything else on-topic.
